"there’s literally nothing stopping you [from doing this thing that costs money]"

people with money. only people with money

travelling the world, “dropping everything” and moving to another city/state/country, majoring in your liberal arts interest of choice, applying/going to your dream college/university, buying your dream house, working at your dream job, cultivating/building/guiding your own dreams, dreaming. living.

buying groceries
paying utility bills
moving to a safe neighborhood
going to the doctor when I’m sick

o-thehumanity replied to your post “challenge to the ladies: if someone tries to belittle you/your…”

Would it be out of line for me to say this can also apply to guys? I’ve been in the very same situation and managed to roll with it and turn it back upon the person. Self confidence and being unflappable help to push something from insult to strength

yes and no??

the post is directed at women because more often than not women who are fat are deemed those negative things, while it’s not necessarily the same for men. it happens, but it’s far less often, and fat men are usually portrayed as funny/desirable in some ways, while fat women are almost always the butt of the joke.

but obviously fat phobia can extend towards men and men can (and do) get made fun of, harrassed, etc. for being fat.

and obviously I’m not really the exact right person to talk about this bc I haven’t experienced any discrimination like that, but that’s just usually the first “insult” thrown at women to make them feel like they don’t matter

challenge to the ladies:

if someone tries to belittle you/your opinion/fact by calling you fat, don’t deny it.

denying it feeds into the idea that being fat means you are worthless/dumb/ugly/gross/undesirable/etc.

you don’t need to deny being fat to tell them that they are wrong.

just make sure they know that being fat doesn’t make what you said invalid, because it doesn’t
